Fugitive caught peeing back in the slammer

|
A man caught relieving himself in public turned out to be a fugitive on the run since 1983. The man first told authorities he was Claude Brooks but turned out to be Edward Nathan Jr., 50, who escaped from a work release program 28 years ago after being convicted for armed robbery.

Just the day before the discovery, Nathan was released by Fulton County FL authorities because of the minor nature of his violation. But after running his fingerprint on the national fingerprint database, the authorities confirmed his true identity. They also discovered that a 27 year old warrant seeking his return to the Florida Department of Corrections was still in place.

It turns out that after escaping from the work release program he assumed the new identity and did a convincing enough job that he was even hired by the City of Atlanta as an environmental services worker. Asked to comment, a spokesperson for his employer said, "Claude Brooks is currently on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation. The outcome of this investigation may include penalties up to and including dismissal which may be subject to civil service review."

It goes to show, a fugitive on the run can never let his guard down. In the case of Nathan, it was his pants.
