We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.No series of words in the annals of American political life seeks more for the dignity of the human condition than the second line of the “Declaration of Independence”. It is forceful in its simplicity and elegant in its delivery. So far reaching it is, in fact, that experts regard it to be “the most potent and consequential words in American history”. It is an important basis for this nation’s founding and the adoption of the Constitution. This is one of the many reasons why we celebrate our independence.
